Our travel began with a Bart ride to SFO. We left so early we had over three hours to kill before our plane started loading. That gave me time to have my traditional vacation airport beer!
We were flying Luftansa Premium Economy, which gave us more room, bigger screens, better food and more! Lynne thought it was the best flight ever. We were able to sleep quite a bit which is rare on a long plane flight. The flight got us to Munich Airport around 5:30, which meant we did not have a whole ton of time to tour Munich.
Our hotel was in a Berg called Esching, which is roughly 45 minutes by train to Munich. After we checked in we headed out to meet Dustin, an Ex Armanino employee, who lives and goes to school in Munich. In Dan and Lynne fashion we of course made a few wrong turns before figuring out the way to the Esching Train station.
The Munich area is very Bike and Pedestrian friendly and we eventually found our way through a nice wooded gravel path that led us right to the train station. We probably would have been stuck in Esching if Lynne had not noticed that the ticket machine had instruction in english! It still took a few tries to figure out that our credit cards were not the right kind and that we had to pay in euros. Once we boarded the train were treated to nice views of the country side, and after ten stops we arrived at our destination, and waiting there was Dustin.
Lynne thought he was like a little angel. He took us to the Augustiner Keller Biergarten, which is grand in scale. There must have been close to a thousand people eating and drinking. We got seated at a table with seven others. It was a really warm night so I think everyone conversed on this outdoor biergarten. We had the big beers and some food. Lynne bought a giant pretzel, which I helped eat, along with a salad that she loved. I had the famous parsley roast chicken.
After we ate Dustin took us on a little tour/walk to the Marianplatz. We ended the night at the Marianplatz three story McDonalds, which had a really nice bathroom. Lynne got a Mcflurry with smarties. We were pretty bushed by now and headed back to the train. We ended back at our hotel around midnight, so it was a pretty long but great travel day.

No " times a wastin' " for Dan and Lynne.
